Our Federation Vision and Values
The Core Vision and Values of The Burghfield Common Federation of Schools are:
Our Vision:
The Four 'C's - 'Discovering every child's sparkle and shining a light on their brilliance.'
- Community - As part of the Federation, children have a sense of belonging and can be themselves, fit in and feel safe in who they are, and understand that respect and tolerance are essential to our diverse community.
- Curiosity - That children develop a passion and desire to find out and know more about the world around them.
- Creativity - Our schools enable our children to develop into independent, imaginative and innovative learners.
- Challenge - Our children will be empowered to embrace challenges, realise their strengths and celebrate their achievements as well as develop confidence and resilience in their learning
Our Values:
- Perserverance - learning with confidence and without fear of failure
- Kindness - showing consideration and concern for others
- Respect & Good Manners - caring for one another and valuing difference
- Teamwork - growing together through shared experiences
This Vision and Core Values are explored, embraced and promoted every day to promote high self-esteem and future success.
Our Core Values are celebrated with weekly Value Awards for pupils and staff who actively demonstrate our core values. Teachers give out 'WOW' awards for determined learners, there are also Reading Star Awards each week. House points are collected throughout the school to add towards the team total.
Our values are also upheld when things go wrong. The school has adopted a restorative approach to behaviour management which ensures that all children are listened to and valued. Restorative Practice also seeks to solve problems together as a team.

We Learn, We Care, We Grow, We Succeed.
At Garland Junior School we champion a broad and balanced curriculum which allows children to develop relationships as well as gaining academic knowledge.
The pupils, staff and parents considered the core purpose of the school and chose our core values which the staff seek to instill in all children during their time here. We strive to involve our local community in shaping our school.
