Jason Chamberlin - Chair

I have served on the governing board of Garland Junior School as a member of staff and now as a community governor. I have worked as a personal assistant for a director of British Telecom, as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Garland for 8 years and am now a director of a window blinds business.

 

Peter Patterson

Peter is a co-opted governor who was appointed by the Governing Board. His term of office runs from 12/07/16 - 11/07/20 and he is a member of the Finance and Exclusions committees. He is also responsible for overseeing Health & Safety and Premises. Although Peter's attendance at meetings is 54% due to work commitments, he is a frequent visitor to school at other times and conducts regular H&S and Premises inspection walks.

I have been within the construction industry for the past 14 years and hold a C.S.C.S. card which is a construction skills certification scheme set up by the government to ensure health and safety on sites throughout the industry. I have undergone Cat B Asbestos training and I am experienced in writing method statements and risk assessments for sites, and COSHH reports.

 I am a freelance marketing consultant, having worked predominantly in the technology sector for over 20 years. I have extensive experience of strategy setting, proposition and messaging development, planning and delivering marketing comms programmes and managing marketing budgets. I have always had a passion for learning and decided to become a governor as I wanted to put my skills to effective use by helping to make a positive impact on children's education in my local community.

In my current role as an Estates Manager of a development, I use all my years of experience as a client relationship manager in various service settings. In my previous role as an Area Manager I provided support to a team of 18 managers with budget responsibility and accounts. I am a team builder, trainer and mentor and I believe that leadership is by example. The main theme of my working life has been to provide people with solutions they did not know they needed. I hold a current C.S.C.S. card.

I am a primary school headteacher in East Reading, and wanted to have the opportunity to give something back to another school setting through making contributions to a different governing body.  I believe strong and values-driven leadership is key to a school's success, and providing the right environment and ethos to help children and colleagues both flourish and be brilliant.  I have experience in managing school finances and staffing, teaching and learning, data, school improvement and most other areas within school leadership and governance.

I am very interested in the transition from primary to secondary education and have a significant knowledge of the educational context in Burghfield through inclusion work at Willink, pastoral ministry at a local church and supporting my three children through Garland and Mrs Bland's.
